Every year thousands of people from across Asia apply for jobs in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and other Gulf countries. Most of them know they need a CV. Very few of them know what a good Gulf CV actually looks like.

This page shows real formatted CV examples for four of the most common Gulf job categories. Each example comes with honest context about what Gulf recruiters actually look at when they open these CVs and why certain things matter more than others.

These are not generic templates. They are examples built around what real Gulf hiring for these roles actually looks like.

What Gulf Recruiters Actually Look At First

Before the examples it helps to understand how Gulf recruiters think when they are going through hundreds of CVs for roles like security guard, hotel staff, driver, or construction worker.

They are asking three questions in this order.

1. Can this person do the job immediately?

For high-volume Gulf hiring the first question is almost always about direct experience. Have you done this type of work before. For a security guard role they want to see security experience, site types, patrol duties, access control. For hotel staff they want to see hotel or hospitality experience, guest service, housekeeping, or front desk work.

2. Can I hire this person quickly?

This is where visa status becomes important. A candidate already in the Gulf on a transferable visa can get attention faster than someone abroad with identical experience. Gulf recruiters want to know your current location, your visa status, your availability, and how to contact you on WhatsApp. The easier you make this information to find the better.

3. Does this person look professional and reliable?

This is judged in seconds. A clear professional photo, a clean layout, no spelling mistakes, organized work history. For customer-facing roles like hotel staff and security at a residential tower or shopping mall, the recruiter is asking whether they would feel comfortable placing this person in front of guests, residents, or clients.

The ranking of these three questions shifts slightly by role. For security guard roles relevant experience comes first. For hotel staff professional appearance and guest-facing experience are weighted more heavily alongside experience. Keep this in mind as you look at the examples below.

Example 2 — Security Guard CV (No Previous Security Experience)

This is the harder and more common situation. Someone applying for their first Gulf security job without direct security experience.

The key is not to hide the lack of security experience or write weak phrases like "no experience but willing to learn." Instead shift the focus to what you genuinely bring that makes you a reliable and trustworthy person suitable for a security role.

Gulf recruiters hiring for entry-level security positions are often looking for reliability, discipline, and trustworthiness first. Direct security experience helps but it is not the only path into the role.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a professional photo on my Gulf CV?

For most Gulf job roles including security guard, hotel staff, driver, and construction worker a professional photo is expected and commonly included. Use a passport style photo with a plain background and professional clothing. Not a casual photo, not a group photo cropped down, and not an old photo from years ago.

Should I include my WhatsApp number on a Gulf CV?

Yes. WhatsApp is widely used for recruitment communication across Gulf countries. Make sure the phone number you list is WhatsApp enabled and that you have an active profile. Many recruiters will message you on WhatsApp before calling.

What if I have no direct experience in the job I am applying for?

Be honest but strategic. Do not write "no experience but willing to learn" because this puts attention on what you lack. Instead identify duties from your previous work that demonstrate the qualities the Gulf employer wants: reliability, responsibility for premises or assets, following safety procedures, and stable employment history. Shift the focus from what you lack to what you genuinely bring.

How long should a Gulf CV be?

For most labour and service roles one page is ideal. Two pages maximum if you have more than five years of relevant experience. Gulf recruiters go through large numbers of applications and a concise well structured CV is more likely to be read fully than a long one.

Should I mention my visa status even if I am applying from my home country?

Yes. State clearly that you are based in your home country and available for immediate deployment. If your passport is valid and your documents are ready say so. This tells the recruiter that the practical steps of hiring you can move forward without complications.

Is it better to apply from inside a Gulf country or from my home country?

Being already inside a Gulf country on a transferable or visit visa is a genuine advantage for many roles because it reduces the time and cost for the employer to get you working. However applying from your home country is the standard situation for most first-time applicants and many employers hire from overseas regularly. The quality and clarity of your CV matters regardless of where you are applying from.

What is the most common reason Gulf CVs get rejected?

Vague job descriptions that tell the recruiter nothing specific about what you actually did. A CV that says "responsible for security duties" or "helped with cleaning" gives no real information. Be specific about what you did, what you were responsible for, and what the scale of the work was. Specific descriptions show real experience.
